Veteran American filmmaker and actor Robert Duvall has died at the age of 95.
Duvall, famous for his roles in The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, died peacefully at his home in Middleburg, Virginia, on Sunday.
His wife, Luciana Duvall, confirmed the news in a statement released through his public relations team.
“Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort,” she said.
She described him as more than a Hollywood star.
“To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything,” Luciana added.
Tributes have continued to pour in from across the film industry.

Actor Al Pacino, who worked with Duvall in The Godfather, said it was an honour to share the screen with him.
“He was a born actor as they say, his connection with it, his understanding and his phenomenal gift will always be remembered,” Pacino said. “I will miss him.”
Director Francis Ford Coppola also mourned the late actor, describing his death as “a blow.”
“What a blow to learn of the loss of Robert Duvall,” Coppola wrote. “Such a great actor and such an essential part of American Zoetrope from its beginning.”
Duvall had a career spanning more than six decades and was widely respected for playing strong and complex characters.
He won an Oscar for Tender Mercies and earned several other Academy Award nominations.
In Apocalypse Now, he delivered one of cinema’s most famous lines: “I love the smell of napalm in the morning.”
Luciana said Duvall gave his best to every role he played.
“For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented,” she said. “In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all.”
