Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha have been named hosts of the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
Organisers say the duo brings a mix of humour, style and star power to the 2026 edition.
MultiChoice Nigeria described them as “the perfect fusion of talent, charisma, and continental pride,” adding that this year’s theme is Honouring Craft, Celebrating Culture.
Bovi said hosting the show is a major moment for him.
“Hosting the AMVCA is like hosting the Oscars. It’s like hosting the Golden Globes. It’s like hosting the Grammys,” he said.
He added that his role is simple.
“The job of the host is to make sure the event is neatly threaded together… to make sure that people do not get bored and that people enjoy the show.”

On working with Mbatha, he said: “I was very impressed… she has quite an impressive résumé. That is a star joining me on stage.”
Mbatha said she felt both excited and nervous about the role.
“I had a mix of feelings… The pressure is definitely on!” she said.
She also shared what viewers should expect.
“They should expect energy, class and world-class delivery… And of course, the FASHUNZZZ.”
The awards will hold in Lagos, with the main ceremony set for May 9 at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre.
