Bandits Kidnap 10

Again, bandits abduct 10 in Kaduna

Suspected bandits have abducted 10 persons, including seven members of the same family, in Unguwar Sabon-Titi along the Katari–Hayin Dam axis in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Residents said the late-night attack occurred around 9:32 p.m. on Thursday when the armed assailants stormed the community in large numbers.

According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers initially operated quietly, surrounding a residential compound before forcefully taking away seven members of a family. The victims were identified as Jummai Amos, Barnabas Amos, Iko Amos, Baby Amos, Eunice Amos, Eshiwan Amos, and Godwin Amos.

The gunmen subsequently moved to a neighbouring house, where they abducted three other residents — Bagudu Damisa, Evelyn Damisa, and Alfred Iriyo.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the bandits avoided attracting attention at the early stage of the operation.

“The attackers came in quietly and surrounded my neighbour’s house before entering and taking away members of the family. They later moved to another house and abducted three persons,” the source said.

He added that the assailants began shooting sporadically only after leaving the area with their victims.

Another community source noted that the residence of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) is located close to the scene of the incident, which may have influenced the attackers’ initial silence.

A community leader confirmed the attack, lamenting that attempts to contact security operatives during the incident were unsuccessful.

“The moment I received the distress call, I tried contacting security personnel, but their lines were not connecting,” the leader said.

Residents trooped to the affected homes on Friday morning to sympathise with the families of the victims, as tension gripped the community.

A local source disclosed that security operatives have since launched a search operation in nearby forests in a bid to rescue the abducted victims.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kaduna State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
