President Bola Tinubu and Abia South Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe on 2027 elections

Abaribe reveals why Tinubu would lose 2027 election

Abia South Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has warned that President Bola Tinubu could face defeat in the 2027 presidential election, citing growing dissatisfaction among Nigerians.

Speaking on Monday during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, Abaribe said the president’s 2023 victory lacked widespread acceptance.

“Everybody loses elections, and you will see that Tinubu will lose the 2027 election because I know what Nigerians are feeling,” he said.

Abaribe argued that the strategy that secured Tinubu’s 2023 win would no longer be effective.

“He was declared winner, no problem. We acknowledge him as president, no problem. But we are going to meet him in the field, and we will see how he will couple together that thing that will make him win again; it won’t work,” the senator said.

He added that Nigerians are now more vigilant and prepared for the next polls.

“This time, everybody will be ready. It will no longer be an announcement at 3 a.m. that before people wake up, he’s been declared winner. No, it won’t work anymore. This time, we are ready, and the masses are even more ready,” Abaribe said, highlighting why he believes Tinubu’s path to re-election will be difficult.
