Akpabio, Ezea Tribute: Death has been unkind to 10th Senate - Akpabio

VIDEO: Why insecurity is rising — Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has blamed rising insecurity on tactics by opposition parties aimed at distracting the ruling government ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Tuesday at the inauguration of the Nigeria Revenue Service headquarters in Abuja, Akpabio said recent security incidents were politically driven and intended to create fear while discrediting the government.

He argued that the performance of the administration led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu has weakened the opposition, pushing some actors to adopt desperate measures.

According to him, the spike in insecurity is tied to the election cycle, claiming the situation would ease shortly after the polls.

He said, “You are seeing insecurity today. It is even increasing because an election is coming. As soon as the election is over, watch out. In the first two weeks, you will not hear a single bomb blast because people are sponsoring it to distract you. They don’t know what else to do.
