Super Eagles June friendlies

Friendly: Super Eagles to face Poland, Portugal in June

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially confirmed that the Super Eagles will return to international action this June with high-profile friendlies against Poland and Portugal.

According to reports, Nigeria is scheduled to play Poland on June 3 at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw. This match marks a significant return to European soil for the three-time African champions, who are looking to fine-tune their squad following a third-place finish at the recent Africa Cup of Nations.

Following the Warsaw fixture, the Super Eagles will travel to Portugal for a second friendly on June 10. While the venue is yet to be announced, the game holds added importance as it will serve as Portugal’s final warm-up match before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Although Nigeria narrowly missed World Cup qualification after a play-off defeat to DR Congo, the NFF has prioritized these friendlies as vital opportunities to strengthen the team ahead of future competitions.

The June matches come on the heels of a positive outing at a four-nation tournament in Turkey, where the Super Eagles secured a morale-boosting win over Iran and a hard-fought draw against Jordan.

These fixtures will also act as a preparatory platform for the Super Eagles before they head to London to participate in the Unity Cup, where they are expected to face a diverse range of international opposition.
