No lives were lost on Saturday after a fire breaks out at FIRS office located at No. 15 Sokode Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has confirmed.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning on the fourth floor of the building. According to FIRS, security personnel on duty responded swiftly before officials of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service and other emergency responders arrived to contain the situation.

FIRS said the prompt intervention ensured that the fire breaks out at FIRS office did not spread to other parts of the building, although several offices on the affected floor sustained damage.
The agency disclosed that investigations into the cause of the fire have commenced, with preliminary findings suggesting a possible electrical fault. It added that internal safety protocols are currently being reviewed and strengthened to prevent a recurrence.
Management of the service reassured the public that operations will continue while necessary assessments are carried out, stressing that no injuries or fatalities were recorded when the fire breaks out at FIRS office in Abuja.
