Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, has said that Governor Ademola Adeleke will announce his defection to a new political party before mid-December, following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking on Rave FM’s Frank Talk on Tuesday, Alimi explained that the governor left the PDP because of the crisis and divisions within the party’s national leadership, noting that the situation could greatly affect the 2026 gubernatorial nomination process.
He said Adeleke would not have withdrawn from the party if the national issues had been resolved.
Alimi also noted that the political process is still within the nomination window, adding that the governor’s new political platform will be revealed on or before December 12 or 13, ahead of the December 15 deadline.
According to him, “We appreciate the people for their support and urge them to continue supporting the governor. The governor is happy with the reaction so far, and everyone understands that if not for the crisis and division at the national level, which could play a crucial role in his nomination, he would not have defected.
“As for where the governor is going next, let us take it one step at a time. Election is a process. He has resigned now, and we are still within the nomination window. On or before December 12 or 13, everyone will know, since the nomination deadline for the primary and other activities is December 15.”
