Alexander Isak scored his first Premier League goal for Liverpool as the Reds overcame West Ham 2-0 at the London Stadium, ending a frustrating run of form. Cody Gakpo added a stoppage-time goal to seal the win, giving Liverpool their first victory in four matches across all competitions.
“There’s definitely a feeling of relief because if you have lost so many times, then winning is important. We hardly conceded a chance and we were able to create chances ourselves,” Liverpool manager Arne Slot said. “We played the game I wanted us to play. This is a good first step for us. We won and had a clean sheet.”

Isak, who had not scored in his first five Premier League appearances since his £125 million move from Newcastle, found the net on the hour mark after Gakpo’s cut-back. He was substituted shortly after, with Slot congratulating him on the touchline.
West Ham also suffered a blow when Lucas Paqueta was sent off in the 84th minute. Gakpo’s late finish confirmed the win, lifting Liverpool to eighth in the table and providing a morale boost after a difficult start to the season.
