Holy kiss: I pray before kissing scenes — Daniel Etim-Effiong

Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Daniel Etim-Effiong, has opened up about how his Christian faith influences his approach to acting, particularly when taking on romantic roles.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, the actor revealed that he often seeks divine guidance before performing intimate scenes on set.

“The fact that I play a lot of romantic roles in the industry today means that I get to have kissing scenes sometimes,” he said. “People feel it’s become one too many, but the question should go to the producers. Why are they expressing affection and intimacy only a certain way? There are several other ways you can show affection.”

Etim-Effiong explained that his faith plays a major role in how he interprets such roles, adding that he never approaches them casually.

“I get all my inspiration from God. I go on my knees and pray before I go to set and kiss,” he stated. “My family is my garden, then my work.”

The actor, who is known for his versatility and depth in storytelling, also reflected on his transition from engineering to acting, describing it as a leap of faith and a divine calling.

“It becomes a purpose to me, and that’s why I had the courage to quit engineering, a well-paying job, to go into storytelling. It felt like a calling,” he added.

Etim-Effiong noted that many producers include kissing scenes because they appeal to audiences and align with market demands, but he believes affection and intimacy can be expressed in multiple creative ways on screen.

The talented actor, who has starred in several hit Nollywood productions, said he strives to maintain a balance between his spiritual convictions and professional duties, ensuring his faith remains at the core of his work.
