Gunmen raid Kaduna police station in Zonkwa, Zango-Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Friday night, killing two officers and injuring two others in a coordinated attack.
The assailants reportedly stormed the Divisional Police Headquarters around midnight and freed several inmates before security reinforcements arrived. The assault was said to be linked to the earlier arrest of suspects accused of vandalizing a transformer in Ramai, a nearby community located about five kilometers from Zonkwa.
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen, believed to have come from Kachia town in Kachia LGA, launched the attack under the impression that their gang members were among those detained at the police station. However, none of the suspected transformer vandals were freed, as they were being held in a separate Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) facility.

Combined forces of the police, NSCDC, vigilantes, local hunters, and community members engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel that lasted several hours before successfully repelling them.
An eyewitness clarified that no officer was abducted during the raid. A female officer initially feared missing was later found safe, explaining that she had fled to escape the heavy gunfire.
The Kaduna State Police Command has not yet released an official statement regarding the gunmen raid on the Kaduna police station as of the time of press time.
