Hallelujah Challenge: My wife suffered five miscarriages — Nathaniel Bassey

Renowned gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey, has shared a deeply emotional story about his wife’s painful journey through multiple miscarriages, including an ectopic pregnancy, during the period he was leading the popular “Hallelujah Challenge.”

Bassey made the revelation in the early hours of Friday while ministering during the ongoing October 2025 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, a 25-day worship programme that runs from October 7 to 31, with each session beginning at 11:59 p.m.

Speaking to participants, the singer said there were times he had to lead the online worship sessions while his wife was hospitalised, following yet another miscarriage.

> “As men of God and ministers, we have heard many stories. People come to me and say, ‘Pastor Nathaniel, you don’t understand.’ But my wife will have to forgive me for sharing this,” he said.

“Do you know there were times during the Hallelujah Challenge when we had a miscarriage, and nobody knew? I would still come online to praise and dance. A few years ago, she was in the hospital with an ectopic pregnancy. I would leave to lead praise and worship online, then return to her bedside, and the nurses would say, ‘It was powerful tonight.’ Not one, not two, not three or four pregnancies, but five.”

Bassey’s heartfelt confession moved many worshippers, as it revealed the personal battles he and his wife faced even while spreading hope and faith to millions around the world.

Nathaniel Bassey and his wife, Sarah, have been married since 2013, and their story continues to inspire believers to hold on to faith even in the face of deep personal pain.
