Armed bandits have killed at least 30 people and abducted several others in a fresh attack on Dutsin Ajiya village in Anka Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
A source in the area disclosed that the attack occurred late on Thursday night, leaving many injured and prompting mass panic among residents.
A close source, Mallam Isah, said the incident happened around midnight when heavily armed bandits on motorcycles blocked the roads leading to the village and opened fire.
“We have counted no fewer than 30 bodies from the main road leading to Dutsin Ajiya village up to the town,” he lamented.
According to him, many villagers were injured, and residents of the community have now fled in fear.
“As I speak to you, people from the village and surrounding areas are leaving in fear. Children and women are crying,” he added.
Efforts to contact the Zamfara State Police proved unsuccessful, as all lines to the command’s public relations officer were unreachable at the time of filing this report.
