Wolverhampton Wanderers have sacked head coach Vítor Pereira following a dismal start to the Premier League season that saw the club fail to win any of their opening 10 matches.
The announcement came on Sunday through a statement posted on the club’s official website. Wolves confirmed that Pereira’s departure follows a string of poor performances, with eight defeats and two draws leaving the team bottom of the table and eight points adrift of safety.
“Upon his arrival at Molineux last December, Pereira and his coaches made an immediate impact, guiding the team to a strong second half of the season,” the statement read. “However, results and performances this term have fallen below acceptable standards, and as a result, a change in leadership was deemed necessary.”
Pereira’s exit also includes all eight members of his backroom staff, as the club moves to stabilize its struggling squad.
In the interim, Under-21 coach James Collins and Under-18 boss Richard Walker will oversee first-team training until a permanent head coach is appointed.

Wolves executive chairman Jeff Shi expressed appreciation for Pereira’s efforts but said the poor run left the club with no choice.
“Vítor and his team worked tirelessly for Wolves and helped guide us through a challenging period last season, for which we are grateful,” Shi stated. “Unfortunately, the start to this season has been a disappointment, and despite our desire to allow more time for improvement, we have reached a point where change was necessary.”
Wolves have yet to announce when a new manager will be appointed.
