Former Big Brother Naija housemate Elozonam has opened up on why he is not convinced about marriage, saying repeated exposure to failed unions around him has shaped his views on the institution.
Speaking during a recent episode of the WithChude podcast, Elozonam explained that witnessing the collapse of marriages among friends and people close to him, many of which he personally celebrated, made him begin to question the value and sustainability of marriage.
According to the reality TV star, most of the marriages he has observed ended in conflict, public drama, and confusion, often without clear explanations. He noted that while some marriages may end because they no longer serve the interests of both parties, the dominant narrative he encounters is one of failure.
Elozonam acknowledged that successful marriages do exist but said they are rarely visible. He explained that couples in healthy marriages are often focused on building their lives and do not feel the need to publicise their happiness, unlike failed marriages that frequently dominate public conversations.
The former BBNaija housemate added that constant exposure to negative marriage stories, especially on social media, began to influence his mindset, prompting him to distance himself from such discussions to protect his perspective.
He concluded that these experiences have left him unconvinced that marriage is necessary for him at this stage of his life, stressing that his stance does not dismiss the institution entirely but reflects his current reality.
