Nollywood actress, Shaffy Bello has opened up about a personal decision she made years ago regarding childbirth, revealing that she underwent a medical procedure to stop herself from having more children.
The veteran actress said she decided to tie her fallopian tubes about 26 years ago because she did not want to have a large family.
Bello disclosed this while discussing motherhood on her YouTube platform, Shaffy Bello TV, where she reflected on her experiences as a mother and the choices she made concerning family planning.
According to the actress, she had already made up her mind at the time that she did not want to have many children, even though her former husband hoped they would expand their family.

“My ex-husband had to beg me to have another one. I didn’t want a lot of children. I wanted to stop,” she said.
Bello explained that the procedure involved doctors accessing her fallopian tubes through her navel, after which the tubes were tied to permanently prevent pregnancy.
Describing the process, she said the doctors carried out the operation through her navel before tying the tubes, which stopped the release of eggs needed for pregnancy.
“So they went through my navel, went in there, did what they needed to do, and they tied it up. That was it. They closed my eggs,” she said.
The actress added that she had always been clear about the size of family she wanted and never felt pressured to have more children than she desired.
She joked that if she were to become pregnant again after the procedure, she would consider it a miracle.
“I’ve always said to myself that after tying my tubes, if I get pregnant, I will feel like Mary — it’s a holy child,” she added.
