In an interview, a couple going by the names Paulin and Dorica admitted that they are related.
They also admitted that they were married despite knowing they were biologically related to one another.
Paulin, a 28-year-old male, claimed that when they were little, a war in Bunia, DR Congo caused him and his sister, Dorica, to get separated from their parents.
Without any trace of their parents or relations, they both fled to Miti.
Paulin said that after the war was over, he returned to Bunia in quest of their parents but was unable to locate them or any other family.

Paulin gave up on trying to find his parents and made the decision to return to Miti to be with his sister.
Paulin proposed that he marry his sister because the siblings were both left sad after discovering no sign of their parents.
He made the strange decision because he thought that since they were the sole survivors, it would allow them to preserve their family bloodline.
His sister claimed that she gave the proposal much thinking before finally approving it and getting married.
Since then, they have been living together and have given birth to four children.
The couple also made it plain that they had no regrets about their choices and would continue to live together.
