(WATCH): 37 Palestinians killed, 900 wounded as America inaugurates embassy in Jerusalem

PalestiniansNo fewer than 37 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces on Monday after thousands of protesters converged on the razor wire fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel hours before the U.S. Embassy moves to Jerusalem.

Anfenglish.com reports that 900 people were also wounded in the bloody clash.

Speaking with Associated Press, Ismail Radwan, a senior figure in Gaza’s ruling Hamas group said the border protests will continue until Palestinians have achieved their rights.

He said,

“We will continue on this path until the rights of the Palestinian people are achieved.”

Gaza health officials confirmed that to the news agency that 37 so far have been killed in the violence, and hundreds more have been wounded.

The Israeli military said the demonstration involved 35,000 people “taking part in violent riots” at 12 locations along the barrier.

The fence was built by Israel along Gaza’s land border for security reasons in 1994.

Reports said a total of 86 people have died and over 11,200 others wounded since a maiden protest on March 30, when President Donald Trump announced his decision to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem.

The relocation of the embassy was a key campaign promise of President Trump.

Trump sent a high-level delegation including his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner to mark the occasion scheduled to hold today.
