Vodacom Group has signed a partnership deal with Elon Musk’s Starlink to extend high-speed satellite internet to rural and underserved parts of Africa.
The agreement will see Vodacom integrate Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellite network into its infrastructure to strengthen connectivity and network reliability, particularly in remote areas where fibre and mobile coverage remain limited.
“The collaboration will deliver robust connectivity to remote schools, health centres, and communities, empowering millions with access to digital services and information,” Vodacom said in a statement.
As part of the deal, Vodacom will also distribute Starlink’s equipment and services to enterprises and small businesses across the continent.

Vodacom said the partnership supports its Vision 2030 agenda, which focuses on expanding digital and financial inclusion to reach 260 million mobile users and 120 million financial services customers within five years.
“By harnessing Starlink as a complementary layer, Vodacom is edging closer to universal coverage and reaffirming its commitment to connecting people to a better future,” the company added.
Although Starlink’s service is currently available in 25 African countries, South Africa remains outside its operational zone. Vodacom, however, hopes the collaboration will help overcome coverage gaps and fast-track broadband access across the continent.
