Popular Nigerian cleric, Pastor Ebuka Obi, has set social media abuzz after a sermon in which Pastor Ebuka Obi offered candid relationship advice to single women, urging them not to emotionally commit to a man who has not clearly expressed intentions of marriage.
In a video clip from the sermon that has since gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), Pastor Ebuka Obi cautioned women against tying themselves down during the talking stage, especially when there are no concrete plans for engagement or marriage.
According to him, remaining loyal in undefined relationships often leaves many women emotionally stuck and ultimately disappointed.
The cleric advised single women to keep their options open by interacting with more than one potential partner, stressing that such interactions must be guided by discipline, boundaries, and abstinence.
He explained that the aim is to observe character, consistency, and intentions, while also seeking divine guidance in making the right choice.
“Date four, five, six guys. Just make sure you don’t sleep with any of them. You can be studying three at a time to know the one God will choose,” he said.
Pastor Ebuka Obi further emphasised that exclusivity should only begin when a man has made his intentions clear through engagement, not during casual conversations or informal relationships.
He questioned why some women remain emotionally loyal to men who have neither discussed marriage nor taken steps such as introducing them to family or outlining a clear future plan.
According to the cleric, clarity and commitment are key indicators of a serious relationship, noting that when the right person comes along, the relationship will naturally move towards engagement.
“When God has selected the right one, that person will engage you,” he stated.
“ never date only one man at a time, this is why they keep leaving you. Date multiple men at once so you can know which one is more serious”
