Officers serving in the Uniformed Division are responsible for protecting key government facilities and locations secured for Secret Service protectees. These include the White House, the Vice President’s residence at the United States Naval Observatory, and the United States Department of the Treasury Building.

Personnel may also help provide protection for the President of the United States, the Vice President, and visiting foreign leaders during official engagements. In addition, officers can serve in specialised units such as Counter Sniper teams, Emergency Response teams, and K-9 units.

The US Secret Service recruitment process includes several stages such as entrance examinations, interviews, background investigations, and physical fitness tests.

Successful applicants will undergo 13 weeks of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers, followed by 18 weeks of specialised training at the James J. Rowley Training Center.

The recruitment incentive of up to $75,000 will be paid in instalments over four years, depending on completion of training and continued service with the agency.

New recruits will earn annual salaries ranging from $77,987 to $134,165 depending on experience and career progression, as the agency moves to strengthen the workforce responsible for protecting critical government facilities and national leaders.
