The United States has sanctioned Alina Kabaeva, a former Olympic gymnast who is thought to have a secret family with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The 39-year-old gold medalist was referred to as having “a close relationship with Putin” by the Treasury on Tuesday, August 2.
Putin has consistently denied having a romantic relationship with her or having kids with her.
In the most recent round of sanctions, Publichnoe Aktsionernoe Obschestvo and Magnitogorskiy Metallurgicheskiy Kombinat (MMK), one of the largest steel producers in the world, as well as its majority owner Viktor Rashnikov, are also targeted in an effort to get Putin to reconsider his attack in Ukraine.

As innocent people suffer as a result of Russia’s unlawful war of aggression, Putin’s supporters have amassed wealth and supported extravagant lives, according to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
‘The Treasury Department will use every tool at our disposal to make sure that Russian elites and the Kremlin’s enablers are held accountable for their complicity in a war that has cost countless lives.’
Other nations, like the UK, have imposed sanctions on Kabaeva and have been open about their belief that she is Putin’s mistress.
She made her first public appearance in June, shortly after the relocation, when she joined 28 other kids in a rhythmic gymnastics training camp in the Black Sea city of Sochi.
It was noted by Moskovsky Komsomolets that she had “lost quite a bit of weight.”
They said: ‘Alina loves expensive stylish outfits, which, being the head of the National Media Group, she can afford”
‘Alina talked with the children in white trousers, a lilac long sleeve [blouse] and a matching cardigan.
