The United States House Appropriations Committee has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing religious persecution Nigeria, following a high-profile visit to the country led by Representative Riley Moore under the direction of President Donald Trump.
The committee highlighted its focus on religious freedom and atrocity response as part of ongoing policy efforts.
“America will not look away as innocent lives are stolen,” the committee stated on its official X account, emphasizing that the delegation’s visit aimed to gather on-the-ground insights to guide legislative recommendations.
The initiative underscores Washington’s attention to religious persecution Nigeria, particularly in regions affected by attacks on Christian communities.

During the visit, Moore met with Tiv and Catholic leaders in Benue State, while also engaging Nigerian security officials, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
The trip follows heightened concerns after the Trump administration redesignated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern over alleged religious freedom violations.
The House Appropriations Committee affirmed that combating religious persecution Nigeria remains central to its National Security and Religious Policy bill.
Lawmakers also pledged to continue coordinating with Nigerian authorities to promote stability, counterterrorism cooperation, and protection of vulnerable religious groups.
