UNIJOS postpones exams over growing security tensions

The University of Jos has postponed its examinations following growing security tensions in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State Government after a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba.

The exams, earlier scheduled for March 30 and 31, were suspended due to concerns over safety in the area.

The decision was announced in a statement by the university’s Deputy Registrar, Emmanuel Madugu.

He said the move followed a violent attack by gunmen that caused tension around the community.

“In view of the late evening fatal attacks by unknown gunmen on residents of Angwan Rukuba… and the consequential tensions it has generated in and around the area and environs, the vice-chancellor has directed that all examinations scheduled to hold on Monday 30th, and Tuesday 31st March, 2026 are postponed,” the statement said.

Madugu added that the university is working with security agencies to monitor the situation.
