A woman who recently arrived from the United Kingdom has died in a road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while travelling to attend a wedding in Ogun State.
The fatal crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Christopher University axis of the busy highway.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the victim was travelling in a white Toyota Camry alongside two other passengers when the accident happened.
According to him, the vehicle was involved in a collision after the driver rammed into a moving truck due to excessive speed.
Providing details of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash, Akinbiyi explained that three people were involved in the accident — one male and two females. One of the female passengers died, while the other two sustained varying degrees of injuries.
He added that preliminary findings showed that the victims were travelling from Lagos to Abeokuta for a wedding ceremony shortly after arriving from the United Kingdom.

He warned that excessive speed remains a major cause of accidents on the highway and called on drivers to exercise caution to prevent further tragedies.
