Two young guys have been detained by Adamawa state police in connection with the alleged savage murder of an 85-year-old man in a community who was accused of being a wizard.
According to the police’s preliminary investigation, the suspects, identified as Gayawan Danzaria, 22, and Thank-God Obadia, 18, both from Shimba in the state’s Song Local Government Area’s Dumne Development Area, were hired by a person who is presently on the run to murder the victim. The suspects claim that the wife hired them to kill the man, whom she claimed to be a wizard who had put a spell on her son.

She was charged N5000 by the suspects to carry out the murder. She made a N2,000 initial deposit and agreed to pay the remaining sum after the act was completed. By 10:00am, when nobody was home, Thank-God stormed the deceased’s home after receiving the partial money and arming himself with an axe. Thank-God discovered the elderly man resting down in his flat and cruelly struck him with an axe on the forehead, causing him to pass away immediately.
Confirming the incident to LIB, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the suspects are now in police custody and that efforts are being made to apprehend the woman who contracted them.
