Tragedy struck on Sunday in Afikpo, in the Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State after two siblings got drowned in a river.
The victims, Emmanuel Chiaha, 17; and Christopher Chiaha, 13, were said to have drowned while visiting the Ndibe Beach, Afikpo.
The two brothers reportedly left their house around 3pm after telling their parents they were going out to jog.
They, however, did not return home, as their family became apprehensive about their whereabouts.
A search party was organised by their relatives, but the effort did not yield any result.
Their bloated remains were later recovered from the river.

The circumstances surrounding the deaths could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Odah Loveth, confirmed the incident.
She said it was a case of sudden and unnatural death, adding that the corpses had been deposited in a mortuary.
Odah said, “The Afikpo North Police Division reported that around 10.30pm, one Chiaha Madabuchi reported a case of sudden and unnatural death. He said two of his sons, Chiaha Emmanuel, 17; and Chiaha Christopher, 13; got drowned when they went to swim in a river in Ndibe Beach, Afikpo, around 3pm, after leaving the house on the pretext of going to jog.
“The police visited the beach and their corpses were photographed and deposited in the mortuary. There were no marks of violence on the bodies.”
