Trump demands Iran’s surrender as Middle East war widens

United States President Donald Trump has insisted that Iran must surrender unconditionally if the ongoing conflict in the Middle East is to end, as the war continues to spread across several countries in the region.

The demand came as fighting between Iran, Israel and their allies intensified, with missile and drone attacks reported across parts of the Middle East. The conflict, now in its seventh day, has disrupted global energy supply routes and raised fears of a broader regional crisis.

Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump said there would be no negotiations with Tehran unless it agreed to complete surrender. According to him, Trump demands Iran’s surrender as the only acceptable outcome to halt the escalating hostilities.

The war has already expanded beyond Iran and Israel, with Lebanon increasingly drawn into the conflict following missile launches by the Hezbollah group in response to the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in earlier strikes. Heavy bombardments have been reported in Tehran and parts of Beirut, forcing thousands of civilians to flee their homes.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has urged countries involved in the conflict to pursue diplomatic solutions before the crisis spirals further. He warned that the ongoing violence could destabilise the region and trigger a humanitarian emergency if urgent negotiations are not initiated.

Despite these calls, Washington signalled that its position remains firm. Officials in the Trump administration have indicated that military pressure on Iran could intensify in the coming days, reinforcing the president’s stance that Trump demands Iran’s surrender before any political settlement can be considered.

Meanwhile, Iran has continued to launch retaliatory missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli positions and military facilities linked to the United States in the Gulf region. The exchanges have already caused casualties and widespread destruction, while key shipping routes and air travel across the Middle East have been severely disrupted.

Analysts warn that the widening conflict could have significant economic consequences globally, particularly for oil markets, as tensions threaten shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy supplies.

As the war expands into new fronts and neighbouring countries brace for further escalation, international observers say the hardline stance that Trump demands Iran’s surrender may further complicate diplomatic efforts to end the crisis.
