A 14-year-old girl has died following a crash involving a
minibus carrying school pupils and a lorry near Birmingham.

Three teachers and 20 pupils from John Taylor High School
were travelling to an art trip in the grey minibus when the serious smash
occurred at around 9am today.

One pupil was taken to hospital with injuries and several

The vehicle, which had the name ‘Bagnalls’ on it, collided
with a bin lorry on Kingsbury Road in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.

Emergency services confirmed there were multiple patients
following the crash which has closed the road, near the junction of Forge Lane,
Metro stated.

Four ambulances and three fire crews attended the scene on

A local resident who witnessed the incident said: ‘It was
about 9:10 am and I was walking back from the school run when I heard all the
sirens.

“I went to go Asda and cars were being diverted. There are
police at both ends of the A38, stopping cars entering. Tyburn Island is chaos;
there is at least 10 plus police cars and vans.

A statement from the school, based in Barton-Under-Needwood,
Staffs., confirmed students aged between 14 and 17 had been involved in a “serious
road traffic accident.”

They said: “Please be aware that a number of our Year 9 and
Year 12 students that are on an Art Trip have been involved in a serious road
traffic accident this morning.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: ‘Emergency services
are at the scene of a serious collision on Kingsbury Road in Castle Vale which
