Tottenham Hotspur have sacked Thomas Frank after just eight months as head coach.
The decision follows a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle, during which fans booed and chanted for Frank to go. Spurs are now 16th in the Premier League, just five points above the relegation zone.
Frank was appointed in June 2025 on a three-year deal, replacing Ange Postecoglou. In the league, he won only two of 17 matches.
The club said: “The club has taken the decision to make a change in the men’s head coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today. Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together. However, results and performances have led the board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary. Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge added: “Thomas Frank had people supporting him, who did not want to make this decision. But it had become untenable. The defeat to Newcastle was a really bad atmosphere. Tottenham didn’t want to do this but they’d lost the fans, there was no way back. It had to be done.”
Frank had guided Spurs to fourth place in their Champions League group but struggled in the Premier League. He said after the Newcastle game: “Yeah, I’m convinced I will be. How convinced am I that I am the right man for the job? 1,000% sure.”
Injuries also affected his team. Striker Dominic Solanke returned in January and scored four goals in seven appearances, but it was not enough to save Frank. “Dom was excellent,” he said.
Frank leaves having won 13 of 38 games, giving him the lowest Premier League win rate of any Spurs manager in the Premier League era (26.9%). He is Spurs’ sixth permanent manager since Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019.
Tottenham next face Arsenal at home on 22 February, then Fulham away.
