Tottenham Hotspur have struck an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign England midfielder Conor Gallagher in a £34m deal, according to Sky Sports News.
Spurs moved for the 25-year-old as they look to reinforce their midfield following confirmation that Rodrigo Bentancur will miss most of the season with a hamstring injury.
Gallagher had drawn interest from several Premier League sides, including Aston Villa, but Tottenham have now edged ahead in the race after opening talks with the Spanish club.

The north London club have monitored Gallagher for several years and had previously considered a move when he joined Atletico Madrid in August 2024. He arrived in Spain in a transfer valued at around £38m and is contracted to Atletico until the summer of 2029.
Although settled in Madrid, Gallagher made it clear late last year that regular playing time remained a priority.
“I’m happy… but I want to play as much as possible,” the midfielder said in December.
Gallagher is no stranger to English football, having made 136 Premier League appearances for West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace and Chelsea before his move to La Liga.
The proposed transfer would bolster Tottenham’s options in midfield as they aim to cope with Bentancur’s absence for the remainder of the campaign.
