President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the deployment of envoys to key global missions, confirming the first batch of postings from the 68 ambassador-designates approved by the Senate last December.
On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the President authorised the deployment of envoys including Ambassador Ayodele Oke to France, Colonel Lateef Are to the United States of America, Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, former ambassador to South Korea, as high commissioner to the United Kingdom, and Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, former governor of Kebbi, as ambassador to Turkey, where the President is scheduled to begin a state visit next week.
In a memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Tinubu urged the ministry to notify the governments of the four countries about the ambassador-designates in line with diplomatic procedures, reinforcing the significance of the deployment of envoys in strengthening Nigeria’s foreign relations.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said the postings reflect the administration’s commitment to ensuring competent representation abroad.
“The deployment of envoys to these key countries will enhance Nigeria’s diplomatic presence and further consolidate bilateral relations,” he stated
