The Mummy 4: Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz to reunite for new sequel

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are reportedly in talks to reunite for a new installment of The Mummy franchise, according to entertainment outlet Deadline.

The report says the project is in early development at Universal Pictures, with David Coggeshall, writer of The Family Plan and The Deliverance, attached to pen the script.

While the studio has yet to confirm the film, Coggeshall appeared to tease the news by reposting the Deadline article on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption: “Cat’s out of the bag, I guess :)”

Fraser and Weisz first starred together in the 1999 adventure hit The Mummy and its 2001 sequel The Mummy Returns, which became box office successes and helped cement the franchise’s cult following.

In a 2022 interview with Variety, Fraser said he would consider revisiting his iconic role as adventurer Rick O’Connell if the idea felt right. “I don’t know how it would work,” he said. “But I’d be open to it.”

Neither Fraser, Weisz, nor Universal Pictures has officially commented on the reported sequel to The Mummy.
