Teenage boy fights for life after alleged assault by Warri chief

A teenage boy in Warri, Delta State, is fighting for his life after allegedly being drugged and sexually assaulted by a well-known local chief. Human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe exposed the case in a Facebook post on Thursday, February 6, 2025, after visiting the victim at St. Melvin Hospital.

Joe revealed that the suspect lured the boy with the promise of new clothes. Once inside, the chief allegedly gave him a meal laced with substances, likely marijuana. The boy started feeling disoriented while the chief asked him inappropriate questions. Before he could react, he lost consciousness.

When he woke up, excruciating pain shot through his body. He was bleeding heavily and too weak to call for help. His surroundings blurred into focus, and he found himself in a hospital bed. His mother, who is deaf and mute, sat beside him, tending to his fragile state. Doctors had already given him multiple blood transfusions due to the severity of his injuries.

Joe assured the public that more details would follow and emphasized that the legal process would not spare the perpetrator.

“This chief may think he’s untouchable in Warri, but before the law, he’s just another citizen,” he declared.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement, but pressure is mounting for an investigation. The case has ignited outrage among citizens and human rights advocates, with many demanding swift legal action.

The community remains on edge as people discuss the incident, expressing anger and concern for the victim’s recovery. Many have called for stricter measures against influential individuals who abuse their power. Social media has erupted with demands for justice, urging law enforcement to act without bias.

As the boy battles for survival, the case serves as a grim reminder of the dangers vulnerable individuals face. Advocates continue pushing for accountability, refusing to let the matter be silenced. The coming days will determine whether justice prevails or if the system fails another victim.
