No fewer than 17 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) returning to their homes were killed on Wednesday morning when armed men, suspected to be members of the Jukun militia, launched a deadly assault on Tse Ajogo village in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The Taraba community attack occurred around 6 a.m. on December 10, 2025, leaving eight others with severe injuries and several houses destroyed.
According to community sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the attackers stormed the village heavily armed and began shooting indiscriminately at residents and the returning IDPs.
In the chaos that followed, seven residential houses were set ablaze, and several people remain unaccounted for, raising fears that the death toll may rise.

Security reports indicate that this is the second attack on Tse Ajogo within two months. The community, located about four kilometres from Rafin Kada town, has been identified as highly vulnerable to militia incursions.
Many residents believe the sustained violence is aimed at disrupting resettlement efforts for Tiv families displaced by earlier communal clashes.
Community leaders have urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious movements to authorities as calls for peace intensify.
The Taraba community attack has further heightened fear among displaced families attempting to return home.
