LAST weekend’s results didn’t come without some shocking score-lines and we expect even more of the same this weekend. I still managed to call four match outcomes right, including one correct score. Again, let’s see how I expect this weekend’s results to look like.
BOURNEMOUTH V MAN CITY
Bournemouth are yet to win a single match so far, losing all two matches to West Brom and Watford respectively. City showed some distinctive characters against Everton (to scoop a point) playing with 10-men. And they looked the better side all night at The Etihad. I think they will have too much for Eddie Howe’s side here.
MY PREDICTION: Bournemouth 0-2 Man City
CRYSTAL PALACE V SWANSEA
Palace looked an improved side against Liverpool last weekend – from the team that lost 3-0 at home to Huddersfield in the opening fixture. I expect them to get something out of this tie. I see Swansea giving Frank de Boer’s men a real fight though.
MY PREDICTION: Crystal Palace 1-0 Swansea
HUDDERSFIELD V SOUTHAMPTON
David Wagner and his men will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the season. But, it’s going to be interesting to see how they will manage to do that against Southampton. This will be their toughest fixture so far. So I will fancy a draw here.
MY PREDICTION: Huddersfield 1-1 Southampton
NEWCASTLE V WEST HAM
Both sides haven’t recorded a point so far in the league, but, West Ham showed character to restore parity at Southampton with 10-men last weekend, only to get let down by Zabaleta’s negligence, allowing Southampton win via a last minute penalty kick. Their win in midweek at Cheltenham in the League Cup – will do their confidence some good – as I expect them to take a point (at least) from this encounter.
MY PREDICTION: Newcastle 1-1 West Ham
WATFORD V BRIGHTON
Though football isn’t played on paper, but given the league form and experience of this two sides, there is no stopping a Watford win here.
MY PREDICTION: Watford 1-0 Brighton
MANUTD V LEICESTER
Jose Mourinho and his men picked up from where they stopped against West Ham, ensuring their match against Swansea last weekend ended up the same scoreline 4-0 as their opening day fixture. But they will face a stiffer opponent in Leicester this weekend, and it would definitely be an intriguing affair at Old Trafford. I expect Man Utd to have too much fire for Leicester to quench though.
MY PREDICTION: Man Utd 3-1 Leicester
CHELSEA V EVERTON
This is definitely going to be interesting to see, as Chelsea looks to improve on their win against Spurs and Everton try to build on their draw at Man City last Match Day. It was that distinguishing feature of a champion that Chelsea showed at Wembley to defeat Spurs, who were the better side on the pitch, and I expect the London side to show same against Everton at the Bridge this weekend.
MY PREDICTION: Chelsea 2-1 Everton
WEST BROM V STOKE CITY
How Tony Pulis have guided his side to two wins in two so far in the league can be termed “outstanding”. But it was how a Stoke City side managed to suppress the storms from Arsenal last weekend to scoop a win that beats imaginations. This will be difficult to call, but Stoke will find playing at West Brom difficult.
MY PREDICTION: West Brom 1-0 Stoke City
LIVERPOOL V ARSENAL
A fantastic fixture to see every day. This fixture sure guarantees goal as we see two of the Premier League most conceding sides lock horns. Liverpool perform better against top sides under Klopp, so I expect them to cause Arsene Wenger’s men lots of trouble.
MY PREDICTION: Liverpool 2-1 Arsenal
SPURS V BURNLEY
If Spurs doesn’t win this one, then they will just increase doubts about their ability to win matches at Wembley, and Pochettino wouldn’t like that. So, I expect them to put everything into this one to ensure a win at Wembley against a stubborn Burnley side. And maybe we might finally get to see a goal from Harry Kane in August.
MY PREDICTION: Spurs 2-0 Burnley
