A football player from Sierra Leone sent his brother to represent him instead of missing his wedding in order to finalize a transfer to a new team.
After spending time with Hebei China Fortune and Henan Songshan Longmen in the Chinese Super League, Mohamed Buya Turay signed with the Swedish team.
Although his wedding was scheduled on July 21, Swedish club Malmo urged the 27-year-old to sign on with them right away. Turay decided to travel to Sweden instead of attending the ceremony, and on July 22 he was introduced as a Malmo player.
Now it’s known that he and his brother switched places to go down the aisle with Suad Baydoun as the bride.
The Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet quoted Turay as saying, “We were married on July 21 in Sierra Leone. However, I was not present because Malmo requested that I show up earlier.

Before leaving for Sweden, Turay took pictures with his wife wearing their wedding attire and uploaded them on Twitter.
We took the photo in advance, making it appear as though I was present when I wasn’t. On Twitter, he wrote, “My brother got to represent me at the actual wedding.”
Turay, who joined Malmo after playing for two seasons in China’s top division, took the field against Diddeleng of Luxembourg on Thursday and helped his team to a 3-0 victory in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round matchup.
He promised that they would go on their honeymoon together later, but they have not been reunited since the wedding.
‘First, we are going to win the league, and then I will go on a honeymoon,’ Turay said with a smile.
