Cowabunga! A pair of PSG fans dressed as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles staged a pitch invasion to join forces with Kylian Mbappe – who team-mates jokingly insist is a look-a-like of the superheroes.
The Ligue 1 fixture between Paris Saint-Germain and Rennes on Saturday evening was evenly balanced at 2-1 before forward Edinson Cavani scored to give PSG a 3-1 lead.
The goal prompted two supporters wearing the garb of the fictional teenage anthropomorphic turtles who were named after Renaissance Italian artists to run onto the pitch at Roazhon Park.
One of the ‘ninja’s’ made a beeline for Mbappe, while team-mate and former Barcelona left-back Dani Alves mimed pulling a sword from his back as he joined in the performance.
The crime-fighting long-running TV superheroes, who have episodes of the show called Enter The Shredder, The Gang’s All Here and a Turtle in Time – or at least the Parisian versions of them – were then led off the pitch by stewards.
The incident is said to be a reference to £178 million Mbappe’s ‘Donatello’ nickname handed to him by pals at the Parc de Princes – who PSG players believe is the spitting image of the ninja character of the same name, DailyMail reported.
The ‘ninja’s’ are then led away after their bizarre but peaceful pitch invasion – Cowabunga!
