Salah’s stoppage: Time penalty seals Liverpool win at Burnley

Liverpool left it late to claim a 1-0 victory over Burnley on Sunday, with Mohamed Salah converting a penalty deep into stoppage time to maintain the Reds’ perfect start to the Premier League season.

The decisive moment came in the 95th minute when Jeremie Frimpong’s cross struck Hannibal Mejbri’s arm inside the box. Referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot, and Salah calmly dispatched his kick to secure Liverpool’s fourth win in as many matches.

Burnley, who had defended bravely throughout, were reduced to ten men in the 84th minute after Lesley Ugochukwu picked up a second yellow card for a foul on Florian Wirtz. Despite the numerical disadvantage, the Clarets held firm until the late penalty drama.

Liverpool dominated possession and pressed relentlessly, but Burnley’s disciplined backline and goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka kept the score level for much of the game. Dúbravka produced a vital save in the closing stages before the decisive spot-kick.

The win extends Liverpool’s unbeaten run to four matches and keeps them top of the Premier League table with 12 points, three ahead of Arsenal. Burnley, meanwhile, remain in early-season trouble with three defeats from their opening four games.
