A British woman has been murdered in front of her autistic
son during a robbery at her home in Mauritius.
Police discovered Janice Farman’s body in her bed at her
property in Albion on Friday.
They said she died after being smothered in front of her
ten-year-old son following a fight with robbers.
The thieves stole jewellery and money and escaped in her
car.

BBC’s World Service correspondent in Mauritius, said: “A
fight took place between the three robbers and the victim in the presence of
her 10-year-old son.
Police said that she was smothered to death in her bed, Metro stated.
They had arrived at three in the morning. It was her son
that alerted a friend. The burglars stole many things, including her jewellery
and her car.”
Her son is now being cared for by social services because
his father is reportedly not in Mauritius at the moment.
Ms Farman, thought to originally be from Clydebank, West
Dunbartonshire, was managing director of PECS Data Services in Mauritius.
The group’s MD Stephen Littlechild said the firm’s thoughts
were with her family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
He confirmed he would be closing the office today as a mark
of respect and to make sure his employees received help to deal with the tragic
event.
