The governor of Kebbi and Election planning sub-committee chair at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries, Abubakar Bagudu, oversaw the rigging of votes to favour one of the aspirants.
Bagudu, who was reportedly working for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu stuffed ballot papers that were all signed by him into to ballot box to ensure Tinubu ways by a large margin.
An election official noted that Bagudu was in the custody of ballot papers. “He clearly had access to it and that was why he began signing them without other members of the committee being aware,” the source said.
“The outcome of the primaries will heavily favour one aspirant because that is who they are working for,” the source said, adding that, “there are other governors involved as well.”
Eight presidential aspirants had earlier stepped down for Tinubu. They are Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti; Governor Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa; former Ogun governor, Ibikunle Amosun, former Speaker Dimeji Bankole, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, Senator Ken Nnamani Mrs Uju Kennedy-Ohnenye and Senator Godswill Akpabio.
“Only two of the aspirants that stepped down really have delegates, the others do not have enough delegates to make him (Tinubu) win by a large margin but they have their plan.
The source explained that the rigging did not carefully take into account the South East and South South aspirants. “I think their focus was to reduce the Vice President’s votes and increase Tinubu’s votes but they failed to take into consideration the fact that Governors Umahi and Ayade are in the race. Even Ogbonnaya Onu as they did not award them enough votes,” the source said.
The source said that during the counting of the votes the conspiracy will become clear. “You will see what I am telling you when they count the votes.”
