Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, a politician from the First Republic and wise man, has stated that Nigeria can no longer benefit from a regional system of administration.
The elder statesman stated that returning to the regional system of government would not solve the problems facing the nation in his speech at The Niche’s annual lecture on Thursday, September 8, with the theme “2023 elections and the future of Nigeria’s democracy” at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos State.
Yakasai said;
“I believe the country’s precarious situation cannot be corrected by the regional system of government. Regional system of government can’t help Nigeria at this point.”
The First Republic Politician however said Nigeria should adopt the French presidential system of government over the American presidential system of government as it is cost effective and suitable.
He said;
“We should do away with the present system of government prone to waste, corruption, among others.”
