The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps; Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, has stressed the need for relevant organs of government, responsible for education to go back to the drawing board and come up with solutions to the problems of declining reading culture especially among Nigerian youths across the country.
He expressed this opinion when he received the leadership of the National Library, led by Professor Lanre Aina, during a courtesy call at NYSC Directorate Headquarters, Abuja on Thursday.
Brigadier General Kazaure while expressing the NYSC readiness to partner the National Library of Nigeria in addressing the problem of declining reading culture in Nigeria, added that if every stakeholders in the education sector is playing active role, the country would be a competitor of Scholars. He also pledged the preparedness of NYSC to collaborate with all organisations towards improving reading culture in the country.
Bearing his mind on the declining reading culture among youth, the Director General of the National Library, Professor Lanre Aina, described the NYSC as the only government agency with National coverage that can help the association execute the project of improving reading culture; thereby sought for partnership with NYSC to assist in the establishment of Book Clubs in schools across the country using Corps Members.
