The Miss Universe Nigeria beauty pageant’s organizers, Silverbird Group, were ecstatic to announce the 2024 edition of the competition on June 1.
The excitement was expressed as follows in the statement, which was signed by Guy Murray-Bruce, the national director of the beauty pageant: “This year, the stakes are higher, as we are committed to an event that promises to provide more suspense, excitement, and rewards.”
Murray and Bruce had no idea, though, that the “suspense” and “excitement” they were expecting would come from a 23-year-old with disputed nationality and bi-national parentage.
The theme of Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, which was themed “Digital Divas” to reflect the growing significance of the pageant’s digital presence and influence, was worth ₦10 million in cash and other prizes for the winner.
Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 was the second edition, and the 38th edition of Silverbird hosting beauty pageant since 1986.
Miss Universe Nigeria, with its tagline, “We make you shine in your happiest moments,” gives Nigerian women a chance to show off their brains, beauty, and sense of cultural pride to the globe while also, crucially, celebrating inclusivity and diversity.
Adetshina, an Igbo from a state in southeast Nigeria, entered the competition on behalf of Taraba State, a state in northeastern Nigeria; the reason for this was unclear.
When Adetshina decided to take part in the competition, her goal was straightforward and unambiguous: “My goal is to win the crown for Miss Universe Nigeria.”
” I want to share with everyone my story as a woman who has been through adversity to bring people together. I see value in diversity and celebrate our differences.”
Chidimma Adetshina became victorious among the 25 Nigerian beauty queens, earning the title of Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.
With this achievement, she will compete against other beauty queens from throughout the world, including Miss South Africa, Mia le Roux, at the Miss Universe Pageant competition in Mexico in November on behalf of Nigeria.
