The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects linked to the killing of Arise TV anchor Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu and a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, during a robbery in Abuja.
According to Arise News, the arrests followed a special operation by the Scorpion Squad under the FCT Command, based on intelligence provided by Giga Forensics, a subsidiary of EIB STRATOC. The operation was launched after the September 29, 2025, attack at Unique Apartment in Gishiri Village, Katampe District.
The police said the suspects were tracked using digital evidence from phones stolen during the robbery. Those arrested include Shamsudeen Hassan, Hassan Isah, Abubakar Alkamu (also known as Abba), Sani Sirajo (also known as Dan Borume), and eight others.
During questioning, Hassan reportedly confessed to shooting the security guard while trying to gain entry, while Sirajo claimed he tried to stop the Arise TV anchor from falling off the building during the attack.

Recovered items from the suspects included a fabricated AK-47 rifle, live ammunition, a locally made pistol, a pump-action gun, knives, a cutlass, torchlights, and four mobile phones belonging to the victims.
The police added that some members of the gang were later intercepted while allegedly heading for another planned robbery in Maitama.
According to the police, Maduagwu died after falling from the third floor of her apartment while attempting to escape the attackers — not from a gunshot wound as earlier reported.
