Residents of Ishara and Ogere in Ikenne and Remo-North Local Government Areas of Ogun State have been thrown into panic following the threat of attack by suspected bandits.
Residents said they received a letter purportedly written by bandits who threatened to attack the communities.
“I was in a prayer group yesterday when we were told that bandits wrote a letter of planned attack to Ogere and Ishara communities in Ogun state,” a resident said.

A principal in Ishara was reported to have confirmed that the letter was written to the two communities.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, SP, the State Police Command’s spokesperson, who confirmed the development, called the letter prankish.
“We are investigating the so-called letter with a view of getting who wrote it arrested because some people will just sit down and think of ways of causing unnecessary panic in the mind of the people. We are not leaving any stone unturned in arresting the people behind the dangerous letter,” the PPRO stated.
Oyeyemi responded, “We saw a composed letter, and we realised that a mischief maker created it,” when asked if he had seen the letter. Additionally, we are not at all letting up on our operational actions across the state, so with or without a letter, we make sure to put in place a very solid security arrangement to fend off any scenario from any direction. We have arrived.
