BREAKING: Bandits attack national park service office in Oyo , kill five

Suspected bandits attacked the National Park Service (NPS) office in Oloka, Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State on Tuesday night, with several personnel reported affected.

The incident was said to have happened around 9:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026.

Early reports suggest that at least five NPS personnel were involved in the incident.

An eyewitness from the area, who asked not to be named, told a 32FM correspondent that five officers were targeted. According to the eyewitness, four were confirmed dead while one sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment.

Confirming the development, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, told 32FM News Correspondent Ogundele Olanrewaju that the attack was carried out by yet-to-be-identified armed men against NPS personnel.

DSP Olayinka said the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, CP Femi Haruna, along with other security chiefs, was already heading to the scene to assess the situation.

He added that the Commissioner had ordered the immediate deployment of tactical teams, officers of the Mobile Police Force (MPF), and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit to the area.

According to him, the deployment is to prevent further disturbances, restore calm, and ensure the safety of lives and property.

He assured the public that security agencies are on top of the situation and urged residents to remain calm while investigations and security operations continue.
