adeleke second term, PDP admits blame in Adeleke’s defection

Osun 2026: I deserve second term — Gov Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that his performance in office justifies his bid for another term as governor ahead of the 2026 election.

Speaking on Wednesday while receiving members of the Ansar-u-Deen Society of Nigeria, Osun State Council, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Adeleke said his administration’s achievements across key sectors show that the people of the state deserve continuity in leadership.

The governor noted that the progress recorded under his leadership forms the basis for his call for an Adeleke second term, stressing that his government has largely fulfilled the promises made during the 2022 election campaign.

According to him, his administration has upgraded its development agenda to further improve the welfare of residents and accelerate socio-economic growth across the state.

Adeleke explained that the revised priorities of his government focus on integrated youth, women and workers’ welfare and empowerment; infrastructure consolidation for citizens’ social and economic wellbeing; and agro-industrial expansion aimed at promoting human development and collective prosperity.

Other areas include affordable and quality healthcare and education, as well as creating a more secure and enabling business environment to drive investment and job creation.

“These priorities build on our original 2022 agenda, which we have faithfully implemented. I believe we have delivered on our electoral promises to the people of Osun,” the governor said, reiterating that his administration’s achievements justify an Adeleke second term.

Members of the Ansar-u-Deen Society, led by the council secretary, Pharmacist Akande Hafiz, commended the governor for several infrastructure projects executed in Iwo, particularly the dualisation of the Odo-Ori-Adeeke Road, which they said has improved economic and social activities in the area.

The group also appealed to the state government for support in constructing a new mosque after their former place of worship was demolished due to ongoing construction activities.

The visit further highlighted growing support for the governor’s leadership, as discussions around the Adeleke second term ahead of the 2026 governorship election continue to gain attention across the state.
