Family and friends of late gospel singer, Bunmi Akinnaanu, have announced the schedule for her final burial rites following her death on January 12 after a prolonged battle with a severe leg ailment.
The gospel artiste’s illness had earlier drawn widespread concern, with Akinnaanu publicly appealing for prayers and healing months before her passing. Her death sparked an outpouring of grief across the gospel music community and among fans nationwide.
Details of the burial arrangements were shared by fellow gospel singer, Alayo Melody, via an Instagram post on Friday, accompanied by a flier outlining the programme of events.

According to the schedule, activities will commence on Tuesday, January 20, with a service of songs at the LTV 8 Ground, Ikeja, Lagos. A candlelight procession will follow at 7pm, while a tribute and artistes’ night is slated for 8pm the same day.
The interment service will take place on Wednesday, January 21, and will be held strictly for family members and close associates, according to the family.
Akinnaanu, who began her music journey at the age of 10, left a career in banking to pursue gospel music full-time. She gained widespread recognition with her hit song Omije Ojumi, which resonated deeply with Nigerian Christians and became a staple in churches and homes across the country.
