Oil deal: Venezuela will buy only American-made products — Trump

United States President Donald Trump has disclosed that Venezuela will limit its purchases to American-made goods, using funds generated from a new oil agreement between the two nations.

Trump made the disclosure in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, saying he had received information that the South American country would confine its spending under the deal to US products.

“I have just been informed that Venezuela is going to be purchasing ONLY American Made Products, with the money they receive from our new Oil Deal,” Trump wrote.

He explained that the items to be bought would cover American agricultural produce, as well as medicines, medical devices and other equipment intended to boost Venezuela’s electricity grid and energy infrastructure.

“These purchases will include, among other things, American Agricultural Products, and American Made Medicines, Medical Devices, and Equipment to improve Venezuela’s Electric Grid and Energy Facilities,” he said.

Trump further stated that the arrangement places the United States in the position of Venezuela’s primary commercial partner, noting that the move would be advantageous to both countries.

“In other words, Venezuela is committing to doing business with the United States of America as their principal partner – A wise choice, and a very good thing for the people of Venezuela, and the United States,” he stated.
